Math of the Project (20 pts.)
It should be noted that this section – “Math of the Project” contains similar topics to the first section – “Presentation of Business Selections.” This section is assessing a notebook that will be turned in along with the groups’ presentations. This notebook will contain all the work done throughout the project and all data that was used to help the groups make decisions (the groups should also be sure to include data that was not shown in the presentation). This makes up the data section. Each data section will also be accompanied by a section providing rationale for why each selection was made. This section includes anything from reasons why certain options were not chosen to why the final decision was made.
Example: The “Food Cost Data” section should include ALL graphs and charts from when your group was deciding how to apply food costs (even the ones that are not in your group’s presentation). This data will be followed by a page including rationale and explanations on why your group made this decision (“We did not want to use Company B because the data showed that their food would end up costing us more in the long run, and even though Company A was more expensive at first, it would be better for us after three months”).
It is likely that you will not be able to fit all of the data you considered into your presentation. This section is to allow the instructor the chance to see ALL of the data that was analyzed. Once again take note that this part of the rubric analyzes the notebook, where the other one is analyzing your ability to present your findings to an audience.
